Tibbsy's Weekend Preview!

SBCC 1st XI travel to Copdock, for their first ever visit to what is billed as a lovely ground. SBCC fresh from their first day victory at Saffron Walden will be looking to back up this win with another away victory.

Copdock and Old Ipswichians conceded over 300 runs last week and were struggling on 64 for 2 off 17 overs (thanks to 20 extras) when rain intervened. The opposition is likely to contain at least one familiar face with Ben Claydon formerly of Cambridge CC (formerly Granta) in their ranks. SBCC make only one change with new overseas Thomas ‘Tommy’ Hams coming in for Charlie Lewis. Tommy, a thirty something Aussie, who acts like a 21-year-old, that sounds vaguely familiar, comes in for his full debut. Skipper Dan Heath looking for the top order batsmen to bat deep and put a decent total on the board, and the bowling unit to continue with their excellent early season form.

The ‘two’s’ welcome Horseheath to Spicers and once again name a very strong side against a side who they would have met in the ‘proper’ league and a side looking for revenge after a midweek pummelling at the hands of the Rams. Mr Horseheath aka Jake Ellis will have divided loyalties for this one. SBCC will be looking to spin twins Matt Day and Jake Raven to continue their impressive early form, and will be looking for other batsmen to join half-centurions Marc Pearson and Scott Stanford in making some decent runs. They welcome back Josh Jordan for this one.

The 3rd XI will meet Comberton for the first time since beating them in last year’s Lower Junior Cup final. Comberton still smarting from Jake Elli’s ‘outrageous’ selection of paid-pro and first team ‘regular’ Lewis Cracknell. Fortunately, or unfortunately the ’pro’ is unavailable but I hope that Comberton do not consult the play-cricket statistics for the vastly experienced Liam Flynn and Sean Jenkins. Jake also hands a debut to Dipanshu Kant in a side featuring young boy Alex Williamson and Old Boy Robert Benson.
