Tibbsy’s Weekend Preview - welcome the EAPL champions!
SBCC welcome the EAPL reigning champions to Spicers on Saturday.
The table has a surreal look about it as SBCC sit proudly at the top and the side with the biggest budget in the league are rock bottom.
Frinton have three losses from three and even Adam Wheater, the Essex wicket-keeper, couldn’t help them to a first day victory. Availability for SBCC remains strong, with Alex Stafford coming in for an injured Ben Clilverd, I suspect the home side will need to be at their best to avoid an unusual banana-skin.
Frinton although missing some of their star names from last year they will be looking to prove form is temporary and class is permanent and teach the new boys some new tricks. Skipper Dan Heath will be looking to Waqas Hussain and the in-form Michael Cafferkey to lead the batting unit to a better performance than that of last week. He will also be hoping that the bowling unit continue with their stellar performances and that his minor counties spin twins Callum Guest and George Darlow, backed up by AP this week, can add significantly to their 26 wickets taken so far.
Jake Ellis will be hoping that the high altitude of both Barley and the fact they the sit at the summit of Division O will not affect his side going into the match against some old foes.
The 3rds will also be looking to cement their 25-point lead after their superb win against Lt Shelford on Saturday. He’ll be hoping for more runs from Three-tons Sid Siddarth and from newly discovered batsman Naga ‘Nelson’ Yanamendela. He again names a side with a mix of youth and experience.
On Sunday we make our debut in the Suffolk T20 Cup when a mix of 1st and 2nds make the cross border raid to Mildenhall. Having tasted defeat against the EAPL Northern section side in a 50 over friendly Dan is hopeful that his experienced T20 side can turn the tables against what he expects will be a strong opponent.
