Tibbsy's Weekend Preview!

SBCC skipper, Dan Heath, will be looking for his team to respond following last Monday’s defeat at home to Copdock.

He will be especially looking for improvements from the batting and fielding, as well as a continuation of strong bowling performances. He welcomes back Josh Jordan and James Vandepeer which will give him more options at the top of the order, although the consistent Charlie Lewis is missing and Michael Cafferkey is still absent. Tommy Hams comes in once again to offer a different bowling option.

SBCC will hope Mark Smith can replicate his excellent form from last week where he picked up eight wickets, and two catches. Smith’s efforts promoted him to joint second in the race to be the division’s top wicket taker, sitting one behind long time leader Callum Guest. George Darlow remains joint fifth to underline our stunning bowling threat. Although, Waqas Hussain will probably be reminding the skipper that he also took four wickets on Monday.

Saturday’s opposition have been sliding down the table of late, they have two wins and five defeats on their record. One of those wins was a DLS assisted one, where the game against Frinton was evenly poised. However, they remain a long standing EAPL club and like most in the division are quite capable of beating anyone on their day. They will be looking for runs from Suffolk players Justin Broad and Josh Cantrell (currently first and third in the Southern division total runs scored table) and from Cambridgeshire’s Ben Seabrook. Ali Allchin and Broad will again lead the bowling unit.

Elsewhere we will be looking for our friends at Saffron Walden to do us a favour at home to Sudbury and Copdock will be looking to sew up at least third place when they take on Frinton.

The 2nd Xi face Longstanton, at home, well at Exning, due to the square being Koroed at Spicers and the 3rd XI play St Giles at Babraham, as both sides look to finish their short season with wins and to stay unbeaten. Marc Pearson takes over the reigns as regular skipper Nick Griggs is unavailable.

Jake Ellis will be hoping for lots of runs from his top order, particularly the in-form Sean Jenkins, Chris Kerby and the mercurial pair of Sumit Siddharth and Nelson Yanamandela. Scott Barker is also due a few but Jake may need all of them to fire with his very limited bowling attack (Sid will be warming up!)
