3rd season as captain how excited are you?

Very excited as it feels like a fresh start as we only had a small number of games last year. After the year everyone’s had, I couldn’t think of anything better than spending the summer playing cricket!

What is a realistic goal for the season?

I think we have a huge chance of winning the league, we won every game in the mini season last year, and considering we were put in with some good teams, no reason why we can’t. I’d also like to think we have a great chance of retaining the Lower Junior Cup from 2019.

Any new players?

We’ve added All Rounder Dom Cameron from Ickelton, who was around a bit last year in our midweek team. He’s someone I tried to get over when I first got made as captain, as he can do a bit of everything and also a good lad. Last year we tried to bed some of the youngsters in the 3s too, so I’m hoping they’ll be able to challenge for places.

The 2nd team have added players how does this effect the 3s?

I think it can only be a positive thing, as it’ll filter players down. The availability from the 2s has always been a problem, but now they’re in the higher league, I think that will improve things so much as it’ll be much more of a challenge.

Are you excited for the summer?

100%, I love playing for the club, and getting involved in everything both on and off the field. Fingers crossed Covid doesn’t spoil anything but can’t wait to have a few celebratory dark fruits after games this year.

It’s been a long a winter, what does it mean to you to be able to get back some normality very soon

Yeah, means a lot, it’s been tough having to live in lockdown over the last 12 months. you can take certain things for granted, but with the vaccine being rolled out rapidly, it’s all looking positive and hopefully the rest of 2021 will be a memorable one.
