Something’s gotta give………………….

Sawston and Babraham visit Sudbury on Saturday in EAPL. Both sides are currently unbeaten, although Sudbury have only played twice. This is just the start new skipper Paddy Sadler was looking for as the Talbots seek to rediscover the form that made them EAPL Champions in 2017 and 2018.

They have captured Matt Wareing (from Copdock) and Ben Reece has returned from Frinton. They have also recruited an overseas spinner and batsman Lasith Lakshan, and are hoping to perform well, ‘under the radar’, and hopefully surprise a few with their ’better balanced’ side. They boast wins against Witham and a thumping victory over Saffron Walden so far this term.

The Rams travel to the Talbots without last week’s centurion, Luke Spears (injury), as well as Noah Thain (school) and George Darlow (teaching). They bring in Charlie Lewis, and Alex Stafford and recall Callum McLean from the 2nds. They are fortunate to have both the overseas, Peter Hatzoglou, after his impressive debut and Northamptonshire’s Nathan Buck as he continues his rehab available as they look to continue their run.

The seconds meet their Saffron Walden counterparts at Spicers where both sides will be looking to build on impressive first day victories last week. Oli Borley for Callum McLean is the only change for what skipper Nick Griggs expects to be a ‘tougher test’.

The thirds make the short trip over to old adversaries Thriplow II. There are a few changes to the team from last week with former first team captain Liam Flynn making his seasonal debut. There are first appearances of the season for Chris Kerby, Jon Windsor and the formerly hirsute Naga Yanamandela. In a continuing theme both sides boast unbeaten starts to their league program.
