Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside!

The Rams look to get back to winning ways when they visit Frinton, a place all Rams have enjoyed both on and off the field ever since getting into the EAPL.

Sawston and Babraham head off to Frinton looking to get over the slight disappointment of last week’s draw, and defeats National Club Championship and the National T20 Cup. Tomorrow’s opponents have struggled so far this season, and find themselves second bottom however they also have a victory over EAPL surprise packet Sudbury, so they can be dangerous on their day.

Both sides will probably be thinking that it’s a good time to be playing the opposition. The home side will be looking for a bit more of stability with the bat, and some back up to Josh Rymall. Whilst the Rams will be looking to rediscover the form that as a balanced attack propelled them to the EAPL title last year. Once again the Rams are forced into making changes, through injury, as out goes James Vandeeper, and Luke Spears. Sean Ward and AP Stafford come in to the starting line-up. Charlie Lewis will be looking to keep his purple patch going at the top of the order, with runs in all formats in his last three knocks. As I said before, the skipper will be looking to the bowling unit to rediscover the form and discipline that, arguably, made them the most formidable unit in EAPL 2021.

The seconds are forced into a few changes, including a change of ground to Babraham. The changes to the first team with AP and Ward moving up has a knock on effect. Former skipper Benji Benson is also missing, as is his opening partner from last week Matthew Day; and so, the Rams will be pleased to see Josh Jordan back in action for the first time this year. Last week’s batting heroes for the thirds Oliver Borley and Ian Smith get swift recalls to the side. After the confidence boost of last week, they face the difficult task of facing one of the more fancied sides Castor and Ailsworth. They sit second in the table and have three batters in the division’s top ten with Mark Wheat, Bevan Stokie and Reece Smith; Wheat and Reece are fresh from tons last week. Connor Parnell is challenging our own Chris Dixon as leading wicket taker and he is backed up by Stuart Dockerill.

The personnel changes from above and a few other availability issue means that Jake Ellis has again to shuffle the pack for the short trip to Abington. He will be pleased to have Alex Day back in the ranks on his return from university, and Gareth Everson making a return. The Rams will be hoping to build on last week’s performance and consolidate their position towards the upper echelons of the table. Abington had a fantastic win last week but they may have had some help from an AP how helped them chase down 275!
